LA CHAISE FRANCAISE
Reimagining a French Design Brand Through a More Premium and Editorial Digital Experience
La Chaise Française is a French furniture brand known for its commitment to local manufacturing, sustainability, and contemporary craftsmanship.
As part of a personal design challenge, I chose to revisit a brand I genuinely admire. Rather than redesigning an unfamiliar product, I wanted to challenge myself by critically analyzing an existing experience and exploring how its digital presence could evolve while preserving its strong identity.
The goal was not to fix a broken experience, but to investigate how a different visual direction could influence the perception of the brand and reposition it within a more premium and editorial universe.
Mission
My objective was to create an alternative vision for the brand's website by exploring a more contemporary and immersive digital experience.
Through visual research, competitive analysis, and interface design, I aimed to enhance the emotional connection between users and the brand while maintaining the values that make La Chaise Française unique: authenticity, craftsmanship, and French manufacturing.
The project included the redesign of several key pages, including: Homepage, Product Listing Page, Product Detail Page, Contact Page, Custom 404 Page.
Objectives
01 | Elevate the Premium Perception
Strengthen the brand's positioning through a more refined visual language and a stronger editorial approach.
02 | Enhance Product Storytelling
Create a digital experience that better showcases the craftsmanship and quality behind each product.
03 | Modernize the User Interface
Explore contemporary design trends while maintaining clarity, accessibility, and usability.
04 | Preserve Brand Authenticity
Respect the brand's existing values and identity while proposing a fresh and distinctive aesthetic direction.
Strategic Value
01 | Explore New Brand Territories
Demonstrate how design can influence the perception and positioning of an established brand.
02 | Create Emotional Engagement
Transform product discovery into a more immersive and memorable experience.
03 | Balance Creativity and Usability
Combine expressive visual design with clear navigation and intuitive user flows.
The Challenge
Unlike many redesign projects, the challenge was not to solve critical usability issues.
The original website already offered:
A clear information hierarchy Strong product photography Consistent branding Good overall structure
The challenge was therefore more strategic than functional:
How might we reimagine the digital experience of La Chaise Française through a more premium, editorial, and contemporary lens while preserving the essence of the brand?
Research et Exploration
To define the new visual direction, I began with a competitive and inspirational analysis.
Methodologies

My Learnings
01 | Good Design Doesn't Always Mean Starting From Scratch
This project taught me that redesigning an already successful experience can be just as challenging as solving usability problems. The goal becomes identifying opportunities for evolution rather than correcting flaws.
02 | Visual Design Shapes Brand Perception
Small design decisions such as typography, spacing, layout rhythm, and image treatment have a significant impact on how users perceive a brand's value and positioning.
03 | Simplicity Creates Elegance
Removing unnecessary visual noise and allowing content to breathe helped create a stronger premium feeling than adding more elements or interactions.
04 | Respecting Existing Brand Equity Is Essential
A successful redesign should not erase what already works. The most effective solutions often build upon existing strengths while introducing a fresh perspective.
05 | Editorial Design Creates Stronger Emotional Connection
Beyond usability, storytelling and visual composition play a crucial role in creating memorable digital experiences. This project reinforced the importance of designing not only for functionality, but also for emotion.
