UNE JOURNEE IMPRESSIONNANTE
Designing an Immersive Digital Experience Around Impressionist Art
Une Journée Impressionnante is an immersive exhibition imagined as part of a three-month university project carried out by a multidisciplinary team of six students.
Acting as a digital agency named World Wide Museum, our mission was to create a complete digital ecosystem around a fictional interactive exhibition dedicated to Impressionism and the evolution of light throughout a single day.
Beyond designing the exhibition itself, we created its visual identity, communication strategy, booking platform, administration dashboard and immersive virtual experience. My role focused on UX/UI design and front-end development of the booking website and back-office interface.
Mission
As UX/UI Designer and Front-end Developer, I participated in designing the user experience from early research to implementation.
My responsibilities included user research, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, responsive interface design and front-end integration using Next.js.
I collaborated closely with the rest of the team to ensure visual consistency between the agency website, the exhibition website, the booking platform, the administration dashboard and the immersive experience.
Objectives
01 | Reinvent Museum Experiences
Create an immersive digital experience capable of making Impressionist art more engaging and accessible to a wider audience.
02 | Design a Complete Digital Ecosystem
Develop a coherent experience including branding, booking platform, administration dashboard and virtual exhibition.
03 | Blend Storytelling & Technology
Use web design and interaction design to tell a story inspired by the changing light throughout a single day.
04 | Work as a Multidisciplinary Agency
Collaborate within a six-person team combining design, development, communication and branding expertise.
Strategic Value
01 | Democratize Culture
Offer a more accessible way to discover Impressionist art through immersive digital experiences.
02 | Encourage Exploration
Create an emotional journey encouraging visitors to explore artworks before visiting the exhibition.
03 | Connect Physical & Digital Experiences
Bridge online discovery, ticket booking, administration and virtual exhibition into one seamless ecosystem.
The Challenge
The biggest challenge was creating an immersive digital experience capable of capturing the emotional atmosphere of Impressionism while remaining intuitive and easy to navigate.
We also had to coordinate six team members working on different parts of a large-scale project while maintaining visual consistency across every digital touchpoint.
How might we encourage people to experience an art exhibition through digital storytelling before they even step inside the museum?
Research & Design Process
Before designing the interfaces, we conducted user and market research to better understand museum visitors and immersive cultural experiences.
Methodologies
Benchmark
Analysis of museum websites, immersive exhibitions and cultural experiences to identify interaction patterns and visual inspiration.
User Research
Personas, interviews and user journeys helped us understand visitor expectations and motivations.
Moodboards
Definition of the artistic direction inspired by Impressionist paintings, museum scenography and immersive storytelling.
Wireframes & UI Design
Low-fidelity exploration followed by high-fidelity mockups designed in Figma before development.
User Testing
Testing sessions allowed us to improve navigation, booking flows and overall user understanding before implementation.

Implementation
The booking website and administration dashboard were developed using Next.js with responsive layouts and reusable components.
My work focused on front-end integration while ensuring the interfaces remained faithful to the original Figma designs.
Particular attention was paid to animations, navigation fluidity and responsive behaviour in order to deliver an immersive experience across devices.
Art Direction
The visual identity combines dark backgrounds, elegant typography and carefully selected colors inspired by Impressionist paintings and natural light.
The objective was to recreate the atmosphere of a museum while keeping the interface modern and immersive.
Large visuals, generous spacing, subtle animations and editorial layouts help transform the website into a digital extension of the exhibition itself.
Outcomes
Complete Digital Experience
A coherent ecosystem combining branding, booking, administration and immersive storytelling.
Immersive User Journey
A seamless navigation designed to guide visitors from discovery to reservation.
Responsive Platform
Interfaces designed to remain accessible across desktop and mobile devices.
Collaborative Project
A successful multidisciplinary collaboration bringing together design, development and communication skills.
My Learnings
01 | Storytelling Enhances Digital Experiences
I learned how narrative design can transform a traditional website into an immersive experience capable of generating emotion.
02 | Large Projects Require Strong Collaboration
Working with six teammates taught me the importance of communication, organization and shared design decisions.
03 | UX Extends Beyond Interfaces
This project showed me that user experience also involves branding, communication, storytelling and every interaction surrounding the product.
04 | Design Consistency Builds Trust
Maintaining a unified visual language across multiple platforms reinforced the credibility and professionalism of the overall experience.
05 | Next.js Opened New Possibilities
Developing responsive interfaces with Next.js strengthened both my front-end skills and my understanding of modern web application architecture.
